FP Flyers - No Practice Today & Weekend Review
Hello Flyers Families!
Firstly: NO PRACTICE TODAY! The weather is supposed to be clear by this afternoon, but the pool will be too cold. Practice will resume Tuesday, May 14.
SWIM MEET - FLYERS @ BLUE WAVE
What an incredible weekend, or first meet is officially in the books! Every swimmer and every parent did an incredible job. Thank you all for your support of the team. Without you, none of the smiles we saw on Saturday would have been possible.
RESULTS
Attached are the official results of the meet. Our team's designation is "FPFLY". Some important notes when reading the meet results with your swimmers:
- Every swimmer did an INCREDIBLE JOB!
- Celebrate their efforts!
- Almost every swimmer set a personal best!
- Comparing to others:
- When looking at the results and comparing to others, I recommend looking at the time difference between the two places either side of each swimmer. That way improvement can be assessed incrementally.
- Don't let your swimmer look at their time, and compare it to the first place winner! That's not fair to them, nor is it setting a good mindset for growth.
- As we have more meets, you will be able to track the progress and success of the swimmers.
- DISQUALIFICATIONS
- If you see a "DQ" next to your swimmer, that means they were disqualified from the race due to an infraction such as: stroke technique, false start, touch violation, or others.
- IT IS OKAY FOR THE KIDS TO GET DQs!
- EVERY SWIMMER EXPERIENCES DQs!
- LOOK AT HOW MANY OTHER SWIMMERS GOT DQs!
- SWIMMING IS HARD! EVERYONE IS LEARNING!
- Please encourage your swimmers to keep going. We can do it!
- The DQ slips will also be in the folder of each swimmer.
- The DQ slip is used as a training aid for practice and improvement.
RIBBONS
Ribbons are prepared at the meet, and delivered to the coach to be distributed at Tuesday's practice.
- RIBBONS: We will be handing out event ribbons, and personal best ribbons Tuesday at practice.
I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow for practice!
Coach Andrew
